Chapter 35
I Have To Have A Talk About Personal Space With Ian
“Ana Poppy,” Beth whined. She had her head laying in Jet’s lap. He was playing with her curls when Gray and I walked back into the room, “Can we order Chinese food?”
I look over at Gray who is giving Beth a curious look. He sees me looking and smiles, “I like Chinese,” he says.
“Then Chinese it is,” I say, “Children, gather into the kitchen.”
Jet comes over and takes Gray by the hand. I see his blush as he brushes past me and down the stairs. I can’t help but smile at them. Beth skips down the stairs behind them, chattering about what they should order.
“How’d it go?” Ian asks me.
“He’s terrified.” I tell him. I turn and look at Ian, who’s leaning against the door frame in front of me, “I want to like hug him and protect him already.”
He snorts, “You used to feel the same about me.”
I reach out, grabbing his hands, “I still do. I just know that if you ever need me you can always come to me with whatever is bothering you.”
He kisses the backs of my hands, “I love you, my darling eldritch horror.”
I start laughing, “Please never call me that again, you freaking nerd.”
He kisses my nose and the corner of my mouth, “What was that, my witchy lady?”
I start giggling some more. I had just grabbed his hips when Beth yells up the stairs at us to get our asses downstairs.
“I need one day,” Ian gripes, “One day without Beth right there.”
I lean my head back against the door and smile at him, “My dearest, would you like to have a date night tomorrow?”
“Yes,” He sighs. “I just want a day of you and me.”
“Okay,” I consent. “She likes being around people who are willing to pay attention to her. She likes the fact you act like you’re not angry with her all of the time like her mom does. You treat her like she’s your little sister and I think she craves that. You’re good for her and I like the fact you treat her so well. I’ll ask her to stay home tomorrow, though.”
“You’re making me feel bad,” he pouts, “I don’t want to make her feel like she’s not welcome. I love her to death. I just really love you more.”
I smirk at him, “It’s really okay to feel that way. I’ll just tell her I want alone time. She’ll completely understand. For tonight though, be nice. And try to tell Gray that you like him a lot. He’s scared everyone’s going to hate him.”
“He is kinda cute,” he mutters.
“I know! Jet was right about those eyes of his.”
“Electric blue,” Ian laughs.
“Come on, lover boy, let’s go be nice to him.” I grab his hands again and lead him downstairs.
Ian walked past Gray, patting him on the ass. I gave him a horrified look.
“How’re you doing Blue Eyes White Dragon?” He smiles at Gray, who looks like he’s about to pass out.
